Explore the Malden River

Malden River Works and the Chinese Culture Connection collaborated on a successful event at River’s Edge: an example of a popular public waterfront park on the Malden River.

On June 3, 2023 Malden River Works collaborated with the Chinese Culture Connection to present the updated design and details of the Malden River Works waterfront park to be constructed on the Malden River. Over 150 participants enjoyed the Explore the Malden River event at River’s Edge Park. Malden River Works continues to prove that working with all members of the community is vitally important for a successful municipal project.

There were environmental education exhibits including Learning the Malden River’s ecosystem and a model of the Malden River Watershed and how storm water affects our rivers and water bodies. The Malden River Works Park is a fantastic model for engineering students of all ages to learn about natural solutions to combat flooding and other effects of climate change.

The Wicked Cool Mystic surveyed participants as to how the City of Malden can help its citizens to reduce the effects of heat waves. Malden River Works Waterfront Park will be a very effective way for residents to escape the heat. We will be planting and preserving over 200 trees in the park in addition to native plantings to control flood waters, pollution, and heat.

Traditional instruments from China entertained the crowd. Dancers were welcomed!

Malden Community Garden provided heads of Napa Cabbage from the Farm. People were treated to yummy dumplings made with the Napa Cabbage! Grow Your Own! Malden River Works Committees are looking forward to a Farmer’s Market at the Malden River Works Waterfront Park.
