Project Misik: Malden City Yard on September 24th

Last June, Project Misik brought music from the African diaspora to honor our relationship with the Malden River and our history. On September 24, Project Misik is returning to celebrate the site of our upcoming waterfront park behind the Malden Department of Works at 356 Commercial Street.

Malden Reads will highlight the One City One Book choice of An American Sunrise by Joy Harjo, Poet Laureate of the U.S. We will be hosting First Nation artisans and storytellers of Massachusetts. There will be a naturalist workshop and arts and crafts.

Malden’s Island Restaurant will be serving Haitian food to participants between 12:45-2:00

From 2:00 - 5:00 PM, Project Misik’s musicians and dancers will be teaching us drumming and dancing to accompany the musicians. We will be creating a Yard of Misik (music in Haitian Creole) together to celebrate the Malden River and our future waterfront park. Zili Misik will rock us with rhythms of our roots.

Volunteering is a productive way to meet and greet our residents and performers. If you would like to help VOLUNTEER at this wonderful event, please SIGN UP HERE: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf1SGgwalNxwsYQbtJM5WL1nB2I_wkKPpQb8Wfu28QFm3rtrQ/viewform
