Sixth Public Meeting and New Translated Materials

On Thursday, June 24, Malden River Works hosted the sixth public meeting to share an update on the next phase of the project and introduce members of the design and engineering team to provide information about the design plans. 51 participants attended the meeting that was held via Zoom.

There was a brief overview of the concept design for the project, the design process and goals, and an overview of how the project will make the community more resilient to climate change. A major portion of the meeting focused on the 25% design and engineering update, a major milestone in the design process.

Below is the most recent rendering of the project design:

The presentation included a discussion of existing conditions and plan adjustments, green stormwater infrastructure design features, planting designs, and the shoreline design. Representatives from the Horsley Witten Group and Offshoots provided details about the shoreline and planting designs, with a focus on climate change resiliency. Residents expressed support and interest in the project plans to preserve trees and enhance plantings to support resiliency in particular. Two hundred trees will be planted and sixteen mature shade trees will be preserved. There will be many additional plantings of shrubs and plants. These plantings are listed on the slides of the presentation.
